loved how the three different stages of the colony collapse disorder were bound together with the story of William， George and Tao。 The story is based on the real stages of CPD and predicts what effects this will have on the future。 The going back and forth between these three characters is a bit confusing at first but it gets easier further into the book。

It only took me 6 months -- never a good sign。Love the idea of this book， love the themes and the general message （even if it is filtered through TED Talk science）， but two things just grated me on Every。 Single。 Page。1。 The writing style as it extends to all three narrators is consistently passive。 They all sound identical to me， even while expressing contradictory ideas -- and they all sound irritating in their passiveness as they blandly describe the story。2。 The characters are infuriating。 I It only took me 6 months -- never a good sign。Love the idea of this book， love the themes and the general message （even if it is filtered through TED Talk science）， but two things just grated me on Every。 Single。 Page。1。 The writing style as it extends to all three narrators is consistently passive。 They all sound identical to me， even while expressing contradictory ideas -- and they all sound irritating in their passiveness as they blandly describe the story。2。 The characters are infuriating。 I assumed that was part of the message -- hegemonic masculinity caused the collapse of civilization！ -- until I read the author interview that follows the novel。 Now I don't know。 William and George are the same misogynistic， stubborn moron; Tao bows to her misogynistic， stubborn moron of a husband every 3 sentences until the denouement。 The characters so overwhelmingly lack any self-awareness， it took me out of the plot every couple pages。Hard to look past the boring writing style or trash characters and appreciate a dystopian future brought on by climate change and human greed。 Bleh。 。。。more

3 Zeitepochen， 3 Familien und jeweils die Geschichte der Bienen。 Die Welt der Bienen war mir zuvor nicht wirklich bewusst， außer im Sommer， wenn man sich vor Stichen schützt und eben das Wissen über Honig。 Aber die Geschichte hat mir einne Einblick in diese Welt der Bienen gegeben。 Auch kleine Geschöpfe haben ihre Geschichte und Leben。

I can't decide if I want to give it a 2 or a 3 star review， so let's say 2，5。I was kinda invested in the first part of the book， and thought ok， this book has potential and could end up being something fun。 But after the first 100 pages you can guess how it will all end， and the author lost me。 I think where this booked lacked most was with the characters， personally I think there was zero to none character development， and most was very surface level。 All the feelings and thoughts were very muc I can't decide if I want to give it a 2 or a 3 star review， so let's say 2，5。I was kinda invested in the first part of the book， and thought ok， this book has potential and could end up being something fun。 But after the first 100 pages you can guess how it will all end， and the author lost me。 I think where this booked lacked most was with the characters， personally I think there was zero to none character development， and most was very surface level。 All the feelings and thoughts were very much two dimensional。I do like Maja Lundes writing style though， very easy to read， it just seemed somewhat unfinished。Also at the end when the stories were linking up too each others， it just felt a bit forced， and something that was put there at the last minute。So in conclusion， just one big fat long book that's point is to save the bees🐝 （but then I feel like this book could of been about anything really， like I didn't get much insight into why the bees are so important， just that the world will be a very shitty place in 2098） 。。。more

I liked the book。。。 it had a spare elegance。。。 the characters were a bit difficult to connect with but maybe something was lost in translation from the original Norwegian。。。 I learned a few things though and for me that’s always a bonus。。。 also - I love bees。 The electrical hum in my mayflower trees is music！ 🎶 🐝 🎶

This book was okay。 The pacing sometimes was weird and it felt like it was missing a lot of explaining sometimes。 I was able to bond with the characters and I liked them most of the times but still， something didn´t quite feel right all the time。 The ending though was quite good， which is the reason why I gave it 3 stars。

Zastanawialiście się kiedyś， co by było， gdyby na świecie zniknęły nagle pszczoły？ 🐝Bohaterowie tej książki mniej lub bardziej muszą zmierzyć się z tym problemem i uświadomić sobie， jak bardzo ważna jest rola tych zwierzątek na Ziemi。 Pytanie tylko， czy nie będzie już wtedy za późno？"Historię pszczół" słuchałam w audiobooku， z przejęciem czekając na dalsze losy trójki głównych postaci – Williama， George'a i Tao。 Każdy z nich umiejscowiony jest w innym czasie， każdy z nich pozornie niezależny od Zastanawialiście się kiedyś， co by było， gdyby na świecie zniknęły nagle pszczoły？ 🐝Bohaterowie tej książki mniej lub bardziej muszą zmierzyć się z tym problemem i uświadomić sobie， jak bardzo ważna jest rola tych zwierzątek na Ziemi。 Pytanie tylko， czy nie będzie już wtedy za późno？"Historię pszczół" słuchałam w audiobooku， z przejęciem czekając na dalsze losy trójki głównych postaci – Williama， George'a i Tao。 Każdy z nich umiejscowiony jest w innym czasie， każdy z nich pozornie niezależny od reszty。 To opowieść oczywiście o wspólnym mianowniku – o pszczołach， ale również o problemach bohaterów， ich wyborach， trudnościach。 Jak i również o zrozumieniu， pójściu na ugodę， o przełamywaniu się i radzeniu sobie w kryzysie。Przejmująca， dająca się zapamiętać książka， która wciągnęła mnie niemal od razu。 Miała jednak i swoje wady。 Jedną z nich była tajemnica， którą autorka umieściła w rozdziałach o Tao i której właściwie。。。 można się dość szybko domyślić。 Nie zmienia to jednak faktu， że czytając jej historię， przeżywamy wraz z nią chwile trudności。 Ta wydawała mi się najbardziej dynamiczna i najbardziej emocjonująca。 Jednak to dopiero wątek Williama ujął mnie najbardziej。 William był chory， wciąż leżał w łóżku i dopiero jedna z wizyt jego syna pozwoliła mu stanąć na nogi。 Mężczyzna musiał poradzić sobie z z nowym życiem， które zmieniło się pod jego nieobecność， jak również sprawić， że jego syn odzyska wiarę we własnego ojca。 To zaś często prowadziło do konfliktów między tą dwójką。 I właśnie te momenty moim zdaniem nabrały jeszcze bardziej dzięki czytającemu Adamowi Baumanowi。 Kwestie Williama wybrzmiewały po prostu dosadniej， a przez to dotkliwiej i dlatego to jego wątek zapamiętałam najbardziej。 。。。more

I want to like this more than I do。 The book is 3 separate stories - 3 characters。 The braided story format is intolerable here。 I couldn’t care about the characters， and the prose rendered them distant， horrid， numb。 There’s no viral emotion， the stories never come to life。 I wanted this book to be important and lively enough to pass on to friends， but I just can’t。 The only way to read this book is to skip through and read each character’s sections as a novella。
